The New Kit Kat
In the context of creating an image, despite my best efforts, I don’t always get what I want. Such a case in point is the Kit Kit I did last year. Despite my best efforts, there was a disconnect between the Kit Kat and the outside image because of the window. Original image here.
I was watching the classic film The Searchers with John Wayne and at the end, you see him standing on the porch straddling the two worlds between the house and the Wild West. He acts as a go-between both words and that’s what I needed.
I removed the window but still had to give the impression there was a barrier between the floor and the outside word. The Balcony was added and condensation was placed at the top of the picture to give the illusion of a massive pane of glass.
One element was still missing. Tthe Kit Kit and cup were too ordinary. It needed something extra. I was inspired by Salvador Dalí and made the cup surreal to stand against the mighty Kit Kat bar.
Lastly I replaced the background plate with an alien world.
Now I had the image I wanted.
